Anyway, the big dogs "got" it...it was horrible. I know that is what dogs do and we are thankful that they are such good dogs. Anyway, they left it alone because they either killed it or it was actually "playing opposum". DH decided that it would be better to shoot it instead of it laying there in pain, so he shot it! I know this is silly, but I about cried......
Has anyone ever seen an opposum up close?? They are soooo ugly looking...big sharp teeth and claws...and it was hissing at us too.
DH said it was better to shoot it then the worry about it carrying rabies!
True, I guess....
Anyway, that was some excitement for us!
Yes, I've seen them & so have my yorkies ---- in my yard!! And it wasn't the 1st time, because years ago my bichons found them. I live in the city so I would think it's weird, but I live near a golf course & a huge cemetery & there is a small wooded area several blocks away so I think they live there somewhere. It is so scary both times there were two opossums and they were trying to walk across the narrow ridge of my 6 ft privacy wood fence -- scared the heck out of me that they would fall on the dogs as the dogs were barking like wild animals. With my bitty yorkies it was absolutely terrifying -- I'm sure the opossums were scared but oh what they could do to my dogs. They are so ugly & I've only seen them in the dark or on the side of the road dead
