At four weeks it is way too early to determine the adult size. Sometimes pups are late bloomers and have growth spurts a little later in puppyhood.

Breeding and genetics is a very complicated and unsure science. You need to look at the this pup's parents, his siblings, and siblings from previous litters from both the sire and the dam. And even with all that information, he will grow at his own rate and to the adult size that has been determined by the genes he inherited from his parents.

It sounds like you have a GREAT plan to go back and look at the pups at about 8 weeks.
