You can also put it in a pocket that's close to your body for 15 minutes or so. I'm so glad someone mentioned this, because ice cold liquid in the ear is always a jolt.

About the mineral oil. I used to put the cotton in the ears and mineral oil in the eyes, but switched to using Bio-Groom Fluffy Puppy that's tearless and I use that to shampoo the heads of puppies and adults. If you clean their ears after the bath according to my vet that will then dry out any excess moisture as well as using the hair dryer on them.
