Try Silk Spirits (
http://www.chrissystems.com/silk.htm) to prevent this from happening. It is a wonderful product. It takes only a drop in the palm, rub your hands together and smooth all over the pup. You can do this on a wet or dry coat but I prefer it on a wet coat.
