Ariel is now 4 months old, and is doing pretty well with eliminating on pads. But, she still hasn't broken the habit of eating her own poop

We've tried pineapple, as others have suggested, and the vet gave us some For-Bid [$8 for a tiny packet !

] We haven't had any success with any of them

I'm at the point where I can only hope that she grows out of it as she gets older.
Occasionally, I don't get to her pad on time after she had just finished going #2. When I do come back, I see some of her poop on the pad, some on the carpet, and she might even carry some onto her bed ... YUCK! I toss the bed into the washer, but am not too sure on how to go about cleaning the carpet. Her poop is well formed, and does not leave any stains.
My question is, when your dog makes the occasional accident on your carpet, how do you go about cleaning it up? Do you just pick it up, flush it down, and be done with it? Scrub the spot? Anything?
I usually steam vacuum the spot, but it's such a hassle bringing it upstairs and waiting for the spot to dry.
