hi

Sorry to hear Connor has a luxating patella. Its nice to know that your vet has done them before but let me tell you this is an invasive procedure and should be treated as such. I work for an orthopedic surgeon and we do this surgery numerous times a day. Its painful and our patients are on heavy pain meds during and after surgery. They do NOT go home the same day and have to stay over night with a pressure bandage on to reduce swelling and bruising. I can't stress enough the pain meds that dogs should get for these surgeries if they are able to have them (no heart problems or other serious issues). It always worries me when i read here about dogs going in for same day surgeries (unless its a spay or neuter). Also make sure you get a full blood panel done before surgery to rule out any other problems. And also make sure he goes over all the aftercare your going to need to do before the surgery so your prepared.

good luck!
