Thanks everyone - we're home and he seems fine... a bit achey perhaps, he flinches when I pick him up.
I'll monitor closely and if he needs it, I'll tuck him into his crate with a "heating disc" and call in for the right dose of medicam. (which I always keep on hand)
The vet was great with him and kept commenting what a cute little fellow he was (while I just grinned) Tyke was a trooper and to everyone's surprise, didn't react at all for that nasty needle.
BEST OF ALL... he's up to 2 lbs. 14 oz. which is the most he's EVER weighed. It's SUCH a struggle getting him to to eat that when I heard he made such a good gain I did a "happy dance" all the way to the car. (making sure there were no witnesses of course)
