I was told many years ago that puppies with thick heavy coats will not have the correct color of a coat when they are adults. Silky coated puppies will appear to have thinner coats. As adults they will have the long coats of silky,correct texture.

Many a puppy will go through a period from 3 1/2 to 5 months of age in which they look straggly. Most overcome this rough period and change from the ugly duckling to a swan.
