Use the curbed shears.....cutting in somewhat in a circle.....I usually start with shaving the top third of the ears.....then visually begin cutting in a circle..don't cut too short at first....make your pattern, step back, and if you like the shape....then go shorter. If you're right handed it's easy to to the left side of the head from the front...and working from the back side for the right....oh! since you want the top knot, pull what you want up and band, before you begin cutting.
