Are you sure your vet said vanilla? Flavored yogurts have more sugar in them or are sweetened with artificial sugars. Sugar is very bad for dogs and the artificial sweeteners are toxic to them. I've always been told to give them only plain yogurt.

The best yogurt to give them is Stonyfield Organic Low-Fat Plain Yogurt. It has the most live active cultures of any yogurt and is very good for their digestion as long as you don't give too much. You might have to look for it at your grocery, it usually is not with the regular yogurt. Sometimes it is with the fruits and vegatables or in a separate health section.
