Higher protein is the best way to go for dogs, unless there is a health condition that requires low protein....so I'm not sure where you heard that, but it is quite a pervasive myth. It IS a nice myth for the dog food companies though - bc if they can convince us that our dogs need low-mid protein, they can produce a much cheaper dog food with lots of fillers instead of lots of protein!
