If a puppy goes to its new home at 12 weeks, the breeder should have papers on hand. It doesn't take 3 mos to get the papers unless AKC has a paperwork problem. Papers go with all my pups at the time of pickup. The litter is registered either the same day or the day after the mom delivers them, so the papers arrive long before the pup is ready for its new home.

An alarm should go off in your head if any breeder delivers a pup to you without papers, unless you personally know the breeder is reputable. And I do mean 'personally'. Scams work because scammers come across as really 'nice' and 'honest' people.

I wish you the best on getting the papers for your baby and I admire the fact that you wouldn't give your baby up for anything in the world. If you don't get the papers, just let the bitterness go and rest easy in the fact that you can help prevent others from having this happen to them. It just breaks my heart that someone took advantage of your trust.

Please keep us posted.
