For my Yankee pals:
Braai = Barbeque
Boerewors = a type of sausage that is just tooooo delicious for words.
Ouma's rusks = better than a biscotti
African sky = well you just have to see it to believe it.

Can you tell how much I miss it all?? Once Africa enters your soul, it never leaves.....

I literary had a tear in my eye on ur behalf. I was just thinking why dont you treat ur Yankee pals on a proper braaivleis. Although I dont know if they would at first enjoy it like us SAfricans.Some of the tastes u have to get use to.But I mean with all the real boerewors and biltong and rusks or caramel boerebrood, mieliepap etc. I will even offer to send you the recipies to on how to make it yourself. Are you a person who would try the baking and or cooking thing ? Let me know !
