Boy, I hate to be negative, and maybe my dog is the exception, but mine is almost 3 yeras old and I have to take her out at 11 before I go to sleep, my dh works nights, so he takes her out at 1 am before he leaves, and then back out again about 5 am. If we dont do this she has an accident. I do think she would sleep through the 1 am time and doesnt have to go out then (though she always goes), but if we dont take her out then, she will wake at about 3 or 4 and I will have to take her out. Even on the weekend, I cant sleep in ever. It must be the breed, not just little dogs, because I have a 7 Yorkie mix and an 8 lb Maltese and both of them can go from 10 at night till 7 or 8 the next morning without accidents. I have gotten used to going outside in the dark and all kinds of weather, even though I hate it. One night there were two coyotes outside which scared all of us half to death, but otherwise I am braver than I ever thought I would be. Its amazing what we will do for these dogs. |
