My doctor says for human eyes, you should use ice for 24 to 48 hours around that area. After that you can use heat, but if heat makes it worse, then go back to using ice. Should be the same for dogs, but again, be careful and take her in when you can...

Put socks on animal's front paws to prevent scratching. Muzzle animal and gently attempt to push back in socket. Keep moist with saline solution (1 tsp. salt/1 pint water).
