Did you really research the breed before getting a Yorkie puppy? As Mardelin said, he is first and foremost a terrier, not a lap dog. Perhaps this isn't the breed for you, although a puppy of any breed will act like your puppy does.

If you feel he isn't a good fit for you, please don't take him to the SPCA. I'm sure you can find him a wonderful home right here on YT or, if not, there are some great Yorkie rescue groups pinned in the rescue section here.
Sounds like you didn't research the breed to me either. Lacy is 3 years old now and wow was she a hyper puppy. Never bit but was VERY playful. She started calming down around 7 months and started to give me kisses and was sweeter. Since then she can be so calm at times and then she'll get her spurts of energy and is like a hyper puppy again. And I absolutely love it and wouldn't have it any other way. I love the yorkie personality - whether they are more on the hyper side or more layed-back. Your puppy is 5 months old and is still young and hyper. I'd look into getting him neutered ASAP...after a couple months he should start to calm down some. You also need to play with him a lot during the day and walk him...get some of that energy out. As he gets older, he should calm down some. Also, if possible find other dogs that he can play with..arrange doggy playdates. You might also want to get him in a puppy training class so you can start working with him.

Don't take him to the ASPCA...there are a LOT of people that would love a little hyper yorkie puppy.
