Ticks dont breed fast like fleas. I have rarely seen more than one at at time on any dog that i have had. You will not become infested like a flea.They usually pick them up out in the brush...they love to hangout in moss on trees.
I usually heat up a piece of metal like a paper clip tip and stick it on the butt of the tick. That makes it back out. if you pull a tick out sometimes the head stays in and causes a skin infection. Looks like you got it all though.. Just run your hands thru your dogs hair daily to make sure they didnt pick up any more.
