Coby was the same way. He didn't even seem to notice after the first evening. For the jumping, we just tried to keep him as close to the ground as we could. I kept having to remind me husband to not bend over him (that makes him want to jump to reach you), but to squat. We tried to sit on the floor as much as possible for the first day or so. After that, it was pretty close to "normal". Those stitches are pretty tough - the hold really well.
