There are some strange infections out there. It certainly could be one of those. But somehow, her heart 'looks' to me like she had a congenital problem...that's now affecting her other organs by failing. Perhaps producing fluid in her lungs...etc. The anti-biotics will prevent pneumonia, but they won't help that heart.
Maybe I missed this but, did she have a heart murmur?
Sorry, but looking at that little body brings thoughts that there's something not necessarily directly related behind all of this.
Blood panel? Anything abnormal? Platelets okay?
