Maybe this is getting to personal, but these are some of the things that I consider when asking myself do I need to help here.
I can't even afford to have those things and my husband makes really decent money, and our kids are all grown and on their own. Maybe the cost of living is different in OK. |
One, Gracie was purchased with money that I pulled from every resource I could around here.... why? Because I fell in love with her.... irresponsible? Maybe.... but I'd never have brought her home if I had known that Natalie had serious health issues..... yes, Natalie's had a rough time, but the doctors all just said "sicky bugs".... (well that's our term, not theirs, lol) and that it would pass..... she was fast improving, she wasn't contagious and I felt that she needed a canine companion for physical, mental and emotional stimulation.
Natalie had extensive testing when I first brought her home (all except for the bile acid test because she's too tiny to withhold food) and she checked out perfectly healthy other than having "a cold" and "thin ears" <eyeroll> - - - so no, I didn't plan for extreme medical treatment in the near future.
It's not like we've ALWAYS been on disability...... I am a stay at home mom and pretty much always have been.... is there some controversy there? Maybe... do I care? Nope.... raising my kids has been my life..... end of story.
My room mate is a Registered Nurse who makes well over 50k a year... (that's pretty good for Oklahoma) - - so it's not like we didn't have savings, 401k, etc. on the books....
We were in a vehicle accident in March of this year.... totaled my vehicle and left us both unable to function normally in day to day activities, let alone allow her to go back to work...... she used up vacation time, FMLA, etc. until it was exhausted and then income stopped until October when she starting receiving long term disability payments through her employer..... eventually we'll settle the case and should have a decent settlement.... but that, as most of you know, could take years....
As for selling doggie items? So what? We buy, we sell - big deal.... many of the items in the current HUGE sale thread have been collected by friends in order to help with Natalie's bills from BEFORE she was diagnosed - lots of things were shared with us to post.... no secret there... I stated it right in the initial post..... as being a "compiliation of items from many folks".... <<shrug>>
