While a pin brush does work best - I recommend making an investment in a Chris Christensen pin brush. These brushes do not have the balls at the end. What a huge difference when I moved from a cheaper pin brush to the CC brush!! Easier to brush, the dogs aren't so annoyed & I believe it helps hair from breaking. Also, remember not to brush a dry coat - they sell some sprays, but personally I love Cloud Star's Buddy Splash.
