I think it's allergies too.. Bailey does this about twice a year.. and NOW is that time he's doing it..he's itching all time and rubbing on the couch and if you even touch his back by his rear end he is in HEAVEN.

I've asked my vet and he said Benadryl every now and then on his food which does help it doesn't stop it, but it does help.
