My first Yorkie, Pasha, was over 8 lbs, and my current one, Bear, is 8 lbs+. They are both from the older English lines. Bear is a red leg Yorkie; reddish coloring on hid muzzle and legs, very short coat that will not grow long. The attached picture was taken last year and shows his coat as it normaly is.

We had an Austrilian Terrier years ago, and the difference between them and Yorkies is very noticable. LT's coat was wiry and short, plus he weighted in at over 10 lbs.

I've found that with dogs, the parents' size is really not a tru indicator of the adult size of the pups.
