I've given her all her meds and tried to get her to take some A/D - - but I'm probably going to have to syringe feed it to her because she won't have anything to do with it....
I'm going back and forth over the Doc's desire to put in a feeding tube for a few weeks.... she's lost 3 ounces since last friday's check in.... (and she fought SO hard to put two of them back on after being so sick the last time!!!) - of course there's worry that with syringe feeding, she could aspirate (since she's trying so hard to breathe easy and coughing so much) and only add to the fluid in her lungs and around the heart.... additional concern now that she's on the lasix, which as we all know, will make her urinate more - raising the need for more fluid input... and going right back to the syringe feeding and fear of aspiration....
An even bigger concern, at least for me - is putting her through surgery to insert the feeding tube into her belly.... the thought of anesthesia alone has me mortified!!
For now... she's snuggled up in her playpen near the warm mist humidifier... even though I've no idea if it's doing her any good.
In a while, I'll try to get her to take some fluids and a little A/D and then tuck her into her bassinet in my bedroom for the night.
I can't even tell you how very fragile she is............... you know those little fuzz covered easter bunny penny banks that come out every year? Soft and fuzzy on the outside - but made of hollow plastic?? Every time I pick her up, that's what it feels like I'm holding..... (I know, I'm weird!)
Anyway.... I'm sure we won't sleep tonight........................... anyone wanna' come ovah' for coffee?? <<sigh>>
