Tinies Wid is 3 pounds. He's fairly sturdy though, at that size.
However, I did have an adorable 2.3 lb Chihuahua that DH and I decided to re-home. He was so very tiny, and needed more diligent watchfulness than we could give. We also care for my elderly mom, who's very sick. The difference in heartiness between 2.3 pounds and 3 pounds seemed enormous. Also Widdles eats very, very well. My Chi was extremely picky. He'd only eat in certain circumstances and reacted very poorly to stress of any kind...even a bath. He'd have tummy problems.
For us, although he was a dear, he was too small and too fragile. We found a wonderful woman who has him as her 'only child' and it's is absolutely perfect for him. That's what he needed.
Although I loved him tremendously, he needed a different home than I could give. Sometimes for the little ones, it has to be about what they need, not just what we want.
All of you with tiny ones have my utmost admiration. You truly are special Mom's to those kids!!
Hugs and Noselicks,
