After reading this I would like to bring this scary thought to your attention. We got Jack (rip) our Maltese in 1976 as a puppy. He went everywhere with us. We spent our summer weekends in a resort town where our sailboat was slipped. On one trip as we were walking out by the lighthouse I let Jack out of my sight for only a second. He was on the retractable leash set at 6ft and he had been in front of me, as usual. Somehow (probably smelled something fishy) he got in back of me & I felt the leash go slack and Jack was crying. I turned around and an older woman had picked him up and was trying to undo his leash from his collar!!!! I asked her what she was doing with my dog and she said that she thought he was alone???and was going to find the owner??? I snached him back so fast and told her that I was going to report her to the local police for trying to take my dog. She left rather quickly. I reported the incident to the local police and they knew exactly who I was talking about, they had trouble with her and dogs before. I let them handle it.

My point is, wherever you walk with your dogs, please be aware of who is around you at all times.
