We have DirecTV, as well as cable. As txshopper73 said, it all depends on the tv you have. We have a big screen Sony & the high definition picture is incredible!! We do lose the signal occasionally during a bad storm, but we just switch over to cable. The reason we kept both is because we already had cable in all four of our bedrooms & did not want to have to pay for additional receivers in each room. Our special was two rooms at time of installation. The other reason we have both cable & directv is for picture-in-picture - a MUST during football season!!!!!
