I will say this: I will NEVER again have a dog that is not AKC registered. Not because I have any complaints against the non-AKC breeder I've worked with, not because of an issue with the dogs, but because of all the drama associated with it. It is far too much of a headache and very tiresome to constantly have to defend what you do and believe. Sad, but true...
