It took me several years of living with a "marker &
chewer" (Not Rocky) to figure this out. I bought a new tree that has a natural trunk & wanted to keep it "pee free" so I put the stand in a square laundry basket. It was an exact fit & it also gave me a place to put all of the power controllers and cords/plugs for the lights. The opening on the side was just big enough to pass the plug end of my line out to the outlet. I attach the tree skirt above the basket and let the skirt cover the basket to the floor. Slick.
