I named Lexie's four puppies....didn't want to have to call them by "Puppy!" for the next 10-12 weeks. I have no doubt they will adjust to their new names when they go to their forever homes, quite easily. And probably more often than not, I will be using the names I give them when speaking OF them more than when I speak TO them.
