I got the breeders name from the AKC and felt confident that they could be trusted. He is now 2 years old and has been a happy, healthy boy. I bought my female from a breeder who registers ACA. We are now heartbroken because we found out when we bred her that she is a carrier of a genetic disease and it has been passed to the 3 puppies. Upon contacting the ACA to see if they would at least investigate this breeder, we have met with no help and actual rudeness. At least in my case, and I can't speak for others, but I have not found the ACA to be a reputable organization. They allow ANYONE to register their dogs with them and make no attempt to follow-up on anything. In my case, it looks like the information they provided the ACA was completely false and quite, frankly, they don't seem to care. All I can say is, let the buyer beware. I would never again buy a dog that is not AKC registered whether I ever want to show them or not. | im sorry this happened to you but did you do any genetic testing before you breed to the dam and sire if not that might be a reason why you didnt know remember breeding shouldnt be taken lightly and genetic defects can pop up anywhere even with reputible breeders |
