To cut a silk coat with a snap on is very hard to get a nice even cut, you must back brush the hair then run the clipper over it several times. Trimming a soft coat the hair stands up nicer and a smother cut is attained. Most of the time I hand scissor silk coats to get them smooth.

So one more time so you understand... Brush the hair toward the head and then run the clippers with the lay of the hair ( from head to tail) do this several times until it is looking smooth. Best of luck to you.
