Hi Elizabeth (love the name Elizabeth) and welcome to Yorkie Talk. I know you are going to be so happy being a member of this site.
I don't have any answer to the question on why Fabio is doing this, have you consulted your vet about it?
Prayerfully it isn't anything serious. That was wonderful of you to adopt Fabio. I think a vet could generally give you an idea as to his age.
