Mojo has gotten into those little burrs before on a hike...how, I have no clue...anyway, I didn't wash him...we had hand lotion and the ones that we couldn't get out easily (which most of them did come out easily), we used some hand lotion (we were in the car back from the hike), and they seemed to come out more easily. If they are on the pads of the feet, it is pretty easy to cut that hair.
I have a very small trimmer for dogs - it is much like a personal trimmer or the guys nose/ear hair trimmer (sorry that's gross, but that is what it is like) and it works well for cutting a small section...that way, you don't have to buzz all the hair.
