I do not trim due to the fact that it gets in the eyes. buckeye has had eye infection due to that hair getting dirty. the vet suggested a little of hair spray for those stays that don't get into the top knot. of course make sure it doesn't spray in the eyes. the hair doesn't really have to be very long to get it in a rubber band. might look like it is in between the eyes. lol jsut don't make it too tight or it will hurt them and then won't leave it alone.
there are others on here that know much more about this than i do. but this is what i do.
