I would think that little puppies need constant supervision don't they? I personally think you should suggest they speak to a professional about it or find a breeder that has young pups and go over and see how much work/how expensive it is to raise the little ones! Good luck!
ps is 6.5 pounds small for a yorkie female that you're going to breed? especially since she'll still grow a little if she's only 9 mos? |
Yes, the fact that they both work is a problem. I think the mama and puppies would need constant supervision. They don't have anyone who comes in to see about Samantha during the day now. She has the run of a couple of big rooms and gets along fine. I don't think 6.5 pounds is too small to breed from what I've read on this forum. And she will probably get a little bigger. I want to stay close to the situation and on discussion terms with my son and daughter-in-law about it, of course. Don't want to put them on the defensive. I am already thinking that I will volunteer to look in on Samantha if they do breed her and keep an eye on her and the puppies. I can do that easily and would actually love doing it. If they insist on breeding her, I want to stay very close to the situation to make it work as well as possible. I'm hoping they change their minds and still have some time to work on it! If it happens, I want to do everything I can to make it turn out OK for the mama and puppies. For all the apprehension I may have about it, Samantha is not my dog and it's not my decision, so I'll hang in there and talk a lot (and pray a lot) and do everything I can to keep it from turning into a disaster.
