Default Badly broken leg - needed surgery.

My 4 month old yorkie broke her leg 2 weeks ago. She has a Y fracture which basicly means she blew out her knee. When we took her to the vet we were told that he could send here to an ortopidic specialist to try and repair the brake but it would be exspensive. We were told 1500-2000 and there would only be a 25% chance it would fix her leg. The vet sugested we just put a cast on her leg than in two weeks we check the leg again. So we put the cast on and waited the two weeks. When we went back to the vet he said the cast wasnt helping at all and that our only option would be to go to the specialist. We called the specialist to setup the operation and he said there was nothing he could do, that he would have had to have done somthing in the first day or two of the break. So now im kind of freaking out.... The specialist is telling me we should take off the cast and see what happens but the vet is telling me that the bone is just floating around. Anyone have any sugestions other than to find a new vet?
