Well, first, how is his weight holding? It's important to continually assess that at his age. Are his stools okay?
So, are you "hand feeding" him - is that what you mean by "assist"?
That A/D is kinda strange food - Marcel ate one dose of it after/during his giardia and then nothing. Twelve weeks is still very young, so he should be eating 3-4 times a day yet.
I'd recommend a really high quality food due to his history, some great ones are: Canidae All Life Stages, Innova, Wellness, California Natural, Evangers, Orijen. These foods are available at better pet stores, feed stores, and online. They are not much more expensive, but the ingredients are MUCH better - and they often taste better.
If he's leaving food behind, maybe he just ate enough - what portions are you giving?
