I did pretty much what others here are suggesting. I first put a collar on my puppy and left it on 24/7. He scratched at it and messed with it for a little bit but soon got used to it. I then let him drag the leash around when he was out of his crate. That still didn't teach him to walk with me but he wasn't worried about and fighting the leash when it was on him. I took him outside with me when we'd (me and the kids) walk to get the mail and I'd pull him along a few steps, then encourage him to come to me on his own. It took a couple days but in the middle of our walk he just "got it" and started walking next to me. If only he'd "get" potty training that easy!
