It is possible to be diagnosed with LS at 8 years old. Even more possible is MVD (Microvascular Dysplasia) which is tiny/microscopic shunts. If that is the case, the things that she is doing with her head is called Hepatic Encephalopathy. I believe those symptoms occur when the toxins aren't processed by the liver correctly and go to the brain. There is no cure for MVD but dogs can do well with supplements and a diet change. By the way, itching can be caused by the liver along with digestive upset (vomiting/diarrhea). Has she had any of these symptoms ever: UTI, vaccine reaction, picky eater, lethargic/depressed?
