If I read it right you've only had him a few days. Give him time to get used to you, your family, and your home. He'll be ok. I've had Alphy over a year and a half and when there are too many people here, another dog, or someone he's unfamiliar with he hides in my room. Sits in the middle of my bed and pokes his head around the door to check things out. Sometimes he'll venture out but other times he runs back in. I go in from time to time to love on him but generally leave him alone because it's his comfort zone where he feels safe and i don't want to ruin that. If Tucker feels safe in his crate that's good. I'd leave him alone. He'll come along, it just takes time.

Keep giving him big hugs and lots of love.
