Honestly, the best way to approach this is to feed the dog in separate areas.
TJ did this for a few months and I had to feed Roxy 'behind' the kitchen island. I also had to 'stand guard'.
When TJ acted up - I told him "NO" and made him go back to 'his' own bowl.
After a while this behavior stopped.
I think they call it some form of "Guarding"
If you google search Food Guarding - you'll find lots of stuff.
