i am going in the morning to have my blood drawn to test my thyroid levels. i was having lunch with my bff today and one of her friends, whom i have never met, joined us. we were all talking and cutting up and he stopped and said "i don't know you personally...but i have to ask...has anyone ever told you that you should have your thyroid looked at?? I can see them from across the table..." he then went on to ask me if i was overly hyper or more sluggish and i told him my metabolism was super slow and that i am often very very tired. he said that was an effect. apparently he is a biologist....i didn't know that
anyway... it reminded me that when i didn't have insurance, and i went to my OBGYN to have my yearly pap done so that i COULD get insurance, i was paying out of pocket. well, he was feeling my neck and told me that he thinks my thyroid seemed enlarged. he drew my blood and said my levels were pretty high and he would suggest that i have some scans run. i told him i didn't have insurance but as soon as i got it, i would have it looked at. well...i forgot until today when this gentleman said this to me. my bff went across the table and looked and said...OMG...i can see exactly what he is talking about. so i started feeling my neck and yes...they are extremely enlarged. i can feel these large, soft lumps in my neck. it's nasty.
so, tomorrow, i am going to have blood drawn again and will take it from there. hubby has been reading stuff online but i asked him to stop until we know for sure what the blood tests say. he was starting to freak me out a little so i figure that we will just cross that bridge when we get there. reading websites can be overwhelming sometimes. but here i am thinking about it and i am wondering if anyone here has any experience with this type of thing???
