Since he's been vet checked I would think time, love and a well balanced
diet will put the weight on before you know it.
From what I have read on YT it takes time for the furbaby who already
lives there to get use to the new comer. Playing with them together
on the floor and sharing some little treats between them may be a
barrier breaker. I would not leave them alone for some time until they
are certain of each other.
