I would suggest to just make it a point to carry them from the car to the store. They are not heavy, they are not big and they should not be exposed to hot or wet pavement. Dark surfaces absorb heat more quickly than light colors do so black-top would be worse than concrete.
Yorkies do not tolerate extremes in weather very well and we need to protect these little lovebugs.
PLUS, it is not possible to know what bacteria is on the parking lot..or the floor at the stores. A pet store that has an animal hosp. attached is a set-up for possible problems because people are bringing known sick dogs in for treatment.
So, there are many reasons for carrying these sweet babies across pavements, hot or cold; and very few reasons not to. JMHO
