I think it has more to do with coat than size (silky vs THICK cotton). Loki's ears were taped but never shaved. Neither the breeder or our first groomer told us to shave them. Our current groomer said that if she knew us then she would have shaved his ears and they would be standing.
I thought about it, and I actually love his uneven, floppy ears.
