Over the last couple of months her back hair and down her back legs has been snapping off and now it is really short.
I took her to the vet and they tested her for mites and such forth. The results all came back negative.
Today they rang me and said they think she has Short Hair syndrome of silky breeds, I think in a America you call it redleg?
Im so upset. I know I should be happy she is well and not sick, but my dreams off a long flowing coat are over and I feel like im grieving. Does that sound selfish? I love Tilly and that will never change, but I still really feel bummed.
Does anyone know of any treatment I could try?
Could the vet be wrong Ive added some photos?
Is it genetic? Should I tell the breeder?
Sorry about all the questions.
Suzy

She doesn't look red legged to me either.

Flax seed oil is very good for the coat. I personally would cut her down (not her face) and start over and see what happens. This could very easily be a lack of a needed vitamin. Bloodwork can tell. You may also want to ask your vet about an allergy screen. There may be something in her food that is causing this. So many things to rule out...

What do you wash your bedding in? What kind of brush do you use. All these things come into play when trying to figure this out.

Either way, she is adorable long coat or not.
