Sandy, I am so sorry you are going through this. I know how you feel Hon. Years ago, my precious Daddy also had bypass surgery. The hardest part for me was to see him hooked up to all those tubes, hear the beep-beep of the machines that kept him alive and monitored him. We have this image of our Dads, as this strong supporter of their little girls, and to see them so vulnerable and ill, is very difficult.
But, you should also know, that having you there, even if it's for a very short time, is of great comfort to him. I know it's awful for you, but if you possibly can, try and be with him for small periods of time. You and him will be comforted. Let him feel the touch of your hand, hear the sound of your voice. I assure you, you will feel better for it.
PM me if you want, because I do know only too well what you are going through. His entire life, my Dad was my very best friend and his bypass gave us 9 more wonderful years with him. In these times, so many more advances have been made, and I am sure your Father will recover soon. You will not believe how much more energy he will have, than before his surgery.
Hugs to you,
Lauren
