OMGosh! That is terrible! I hope your walk home was not the end of that. The owner of that pit should be held accountable.

I think the answer to your question is both. Often they are raised to be mean and they are also bred to be mean. Meaning that some breeders will breed the meanest with the meanest and well then you know what happens. I'm sure that's not what all breeders do but a good many do. I would never own one and wonder why anyone with children or smaller dogs would take that risk. I would not allow a puppy of mine to go to a household with one.

My comments are definately not directed at anyone here they are just my feelings on pit bulls and have always been.
