He seems happy outside in the grass, but is VERY afraid of the sidewalk and the front porch. He's very scared of being picked up - I'm not sure if he has had a bad experience with this or what, but he really tenses up when you scoop down to pick him up. He seems to have taken up with his crate that I got to leave him in while I'm at work and at night. He will get in there all by himself to lie down in his bed even when he doesn't have to be.

Since he is still so scared of everything, should I let him get used to his new home before I take him out to "socialize" him? If so, how long should I wait?
Hi Jessica, Welcome to YT! Oh yes, you need to wait to take him out. He needs to have all his shots before he's out on any sidewalk and please watch the grass too. If it's your back yard where no other furbabies are it's ok, but if not, keep him off the grass until he has had all his Parvo shots.
He's still young, puppies need lots of attention, he will come around. He's tiny and he's in a new big place, kind of scary for a little guy. When you leave him leave on some soft music or the TV, it calms them. Kitchen floors are sometimes scary, but before you know it he's going to be all over your home exploring
He sure is cute!!!!
